Fire and Salsa

Thu Aug 6, 2009, 3:52 PM
Made a pair of practice weapons for Fire Dancing: I used some bright red tow straps, and some chair feet which are just cut tennis balls. I . . . . . um had to sew. . . dont tell anyone its not somthing i want anyone to know i can do. . . . <.< >.> . . . .ok I used an extra strap and braided them, then sewed them with red fishing line. Maybe I'll take a picture of them and put them online. They look pretty stinkin' sweet btw.
I have soo much to do and Salsa classes are tomorrow. I am sure that i have forgotten what i learned at the last session. . . . im doomed!

There is so much more to me than just being an artist. I have so many layers: I go through life and people attach labels and know me as their (Fill in the blank) and someone else knows me differently as their (fill in the blank). Im always looking for a challenge and someway to suprise you. Ask questions set up situations and hurdles leave no doors unopened and all blanks filled.

It seems i have always been an artist.
I can remember laying on the floor and drawing Saturday morning cartoons as a child. Each evening laying on my stomach in front of a television drawing as well.
I bought a lot of comics as a child but being somewhat of a slob they were tossed when my mom had to clean up.

I remember a time as a child when i tore coloring book pages and placed them all over the walls of me and my brothers room. He said to me, " If you dont put your stuff on the wall i wont put mine". I laughingly thought but you dont draw, my brother was always tearing apart everything to see how it worked or was chasing girls. I realized that my work was not good enough yet, it was my first motivational critique. :)

I remember going to our aunts house in the country my cousin Brenda was a really cool teenage hippie chick.
Her room was very inspirational to me, when my aunt asked me to go into Brenda's room to get something, it was worth the trip for me and my mom to go way out there to the country. Her room had black lights and black light posters tilted diagnally, they always seemed to be so chaotic but in perfect placement. There were flourescent painted flowers and dark christmas lights. Remember this was way back in the early seventies and was like walking into Spencer's Gifts. The posters were of dragons, tigers, Keep on truckin, Have a nice day, Crazy Muscle Car Illustrations, Rock Stars like Jimmy Hendrix, the Doors, Rolling Stones, and yes some chick named Mary Jane????? I was very shy as a child and was afraid to touch anything in her room, cept i loved rubbing my hand across the velvet black light posters, and turning the main lights off and the black lights on.

My aunts house was so boring other than brendas room and they never had drawing paper so i remember sitting at the couch drawing spiderman on paper sacks that my aunt had stored. My cousin Hank had a Spiderman poster that i walked into his room to use for reference. <.< >.>

By the time i was in third grade i had my own poster company, was put in the newspaper, and was hustling my marker posters door to door selling pictures of tigers dragons and images of the saints and greek mythology for 20 bucks a pop. This provided me lots of money to play video games and shoot pool. By this time my brother was hanging my work on his side of the room as well. :)

The artwork provided on this website allows you to understand me and where im at now with my art and me as an artist.
Ive had a lot of lifes experience in art, jobs, schooling, projects, and a path that i wouldn't trade for the world.
Many of the people I know, know me as an designer but my past is just a blank.
You now know me as a child up to age seven.
So if you have taken the time out to read this i would like to thank you for sharing my beginnings as an artist.
